The History Behind Allendale County Rescue Squad

    About Allendale County Rescue Squad

The Allendale County Rescue Squad was founded in 1972, and was originally a volunteer basic life support service. The first application was taken in 1973, and by 1974 there were 5 basic EMT members of the Rescue Squad. The Squad had two Dodge Ambulances which were received with grant money from the federal government.

In December of 1994 The Rescue Squad had its  first Paramedics that provide advanced life support in the county. In 2004 we provided ALS services with three units and maintained a fourth BLS truck, As of 2024 our staff now consists of 50 plus employees 22 of which are full time and all are dedicated to maintaining the safety of the citizens of Allendale County.

The Rescue Squad works in conjunction with the Fire Department and utilizes first responders in order to provide a full range of rescue and medical care in Allendale County.

    GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Our goal is to provide prompt and reliable healthcare and 911 services to the sick and injured without  bias.

     CONTINUOUS TRAINING

Throughout the year each of our certified personnel attends a monthly In-Service program designed to maintain there level of certification.  All personnel must receive additional continuing education hours in a variety of different areas of the medical field during the term of there certification.  This allows them to keep their skills up to date and keep up with the many changes that accur on a day to day basis. Over the years as medicine has changed, so has the Rescue Squad.  We have been very fortunate through the years to be able to provide up to date equipment for our ambulances. As ALS providers we carry everything necessary to provide what in many instances is life saving medical care prior to arrival at a hospital.
